Roger Maillet, 87, of Bouctouche Bay passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Dr Georges L Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Thursday August 18th, 2011. He was married to the late Elda (LeBlanc) Maillet (2007). Born in Bouctouche on April 18th, 1924, he was the son of the late Cyrille and the late Geneviève (Savoie) Maillet.
Roger was a Bricklayer by trade, and he was also a WW 11 veteran. He served overseas from 1942 – 1945 with the Maisonneuve Regiment, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He will be sadly missed by his four children; Felice Haller (David) of Shelton, Conn., Jackie (Jill) of Monroe, Conn., Roy (Roxanne) and Norman of Moncton, his six grandchildren, Dan, Kevin, Cheryl, Amanda, Justin, and Nicholas. He also leaves to mourn two sister, Agnes Dupuis of Cocagne,Maria Cormier of Scoudouc, and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by four sisters, Marie, Rosa, Joseline, Alma and four brothers, Hervé, Cyrille, Gerald and Adelard.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Tuesday August 23rd from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on August 23rd, 2011 at 4:00 pm with internment in the parish cemetery.
