In Loving Memory Of
Roland Goguen
1950 ~ 2023

Dieppe, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roland Goguen, 73, that occurred suddenly at his cottage in Cocagne, on Friday, July 7th, 2023.

Born in Moncton, NB on March 24th, 1950, he was the son of the late Omer Goguen and the late Edmée (Caissie) Goguen.

Over the course of a 32-year career as a teacher, Roland worked at several schools in southeastern New Brunswick, most notably Mathieu-Martin in Dieppe and Beauséjour in Moncton (where he also served as the vice-principal). During his career, Roland touched the lives of many students, helping to identify and foster their potential as well as push them to achieve their goals. He was universally loved and respected by his students and colleagues alike. Roland also enjoyed going for drives on his motorbike, woodworking, and especially doing genealogical research on Acadian families. He was truly a hard-working man, and always had several different projects going at the same time. Roland was softspoken, funny, lighthearted, consistently kind, and willing to help anybody in need. He loved unconditionally, listened attentively, reacted thoughtfully, and was always trying to help others solve their problems in the easiest way possible. The most important thing for Roland was his family. Among the great joys of his life was spending time with his two granddaughters, something which he was fortunate enough to do almost every day since they were born. Those who knew Roland will miss him immensely but will find comfort in the precious memories they shared with him. You will live forever in our hearts.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 44 years, Phyllis; his daughter, Sylvie Despres (Jean-Marc) of Dieppe; his son, Marcel Goguen of Hamilton, Ontario; his two granddaughters whom he adored with all his heart: Mylène and Martine; his sister, Gilberte (Aris) LeBlanc of Cocagne; his brothers: Gilles (late Fern) of Dieppe and Bertrand (Irène) of Moncton; his sister-in-law, Marguerite Goguen of Dieppe as well as several cousins, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Rolande (late Léo-Paul) Landry and his brother, Bernard Goguen.

Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative, (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, E1A 1G1, 506-857-1901) on Thursday, July 13th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. only. Funeral service will be held at the Passage-Chartersville Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 am.

I will have a mass said for him here where I live by the Companions of the Cross in Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia. Love you Phyliss and Sophie. I am sure you will miss him, but Aunt Rose and Uncle Prosper will be there waiting on the otherside to take good care of him. I am sure he loved his grandchildren as much as I love mine. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace.
