MELANSON, Ronald Joseph passed away at the age of 78 on Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 at the Moncton hospital after a brief illness with cancer.
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Ron was the son of the late Leo and the late Mae Melanson (MacGowan).
During his working years, he was employed briefly with CNR and spent the majority of his career with Canada Post. In his younger years, Ron was actively involved in sports and had a passion for both hockey and baseball.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Cyndy Shand (Ron Boucher) of Moncton, his grandson, Ryan Fitzgerald, London, ON, and granddaughter, Meghan Black (Neil), Moncton; two brothers, James Melanson (Irma) and Billy Melanson (Muriel); two sisters, Doris Leger (Raymond) and Sandra Hicks (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Fernande Melanson, Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his special friend, Lyda Arsenault. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Ernestine Melanson, brother, Jack Melanson and sister, Barbara Cormier (late Romeo).
Visitations will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Bernard’s R.C. Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton on Friday, August 3rd, 2012 at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
