Rosaire Barrieau
1945 ~ 2023

Dieppe, NB – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rosaire Barrieau, 77, on Thursday, June 29th, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.

Born in Acadieville, NB, he was the son of the late Léonard and Léonie (Richard) Barrieau.

He will be sadly missed by his common-law partner of 35 years, Muriel Cormier; his brothers and sisters: Eva, Cécile, Maria, Alfred, Rosa, Aline, Rhéa, Marguerite and Marcel.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey; his two brothers: Père Yvon and Rufin; and by his four sisters: Sr. Irène, Ethel, Florine, and Sr. Rita.

Rosaire worked for Via Rail for over 35 years. His lifelong passion was for the family tradition of harness racing and caring for his beloved horses.

Visitation will be held from Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, (506) 857-1901, on Friday, July 28th, 2023, from 1 to 3 pm only. Funeral service will follow from Passage-Chartersville Chapel, on the same day at 3 pm.

In Rosaire’s memory, a donation can be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Diabetic Association.

He was so passionate about training his horses and always had some great stories about their races. You will be missed and may you RIP Rosaire.

    To Muriel and the rest of Rosey‘s family I would like to convey my sincere and heartfelt condolences to You and the family, when I started my career with the railway I met a lot of nice men one of them just happened to be Rosaire I used to talk to him about horses my Grandfather had a love for horses as well, We also worked together in the dining cars and Sleepers We had many laughs and memories in Montréal at the track, my prayers to all his family May he Rest In Paradise !
