In Loving Memory Of
Ross Clements
1953 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ross William Clements, 70, of Shediac NB on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Saint-John Regional Hospital after having suffered a sudden illness. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at his side.

Born December 31st, 1953, in Shediac NB, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Poirier) Clements from Pointe-du-Chene NB.  Ross graduated from Moncton High School, retired from CO-OP Atlantic after a 35-year career, and spent his retirement focused on his family and grandkids, his friends, golfing, bowling, and helping people and whenever he had a chance, shared a laugh.

Ross is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Bernice (Landry), his two children Jason (Lynne Caissie) and Jessica (Curtis Butler), his 4 grandchildren (Zachary, Nathan, Hailey, Liam) and his 2 grand dogs (Bella and Newton).

He was the youngest boy of 12 children, a large family which he loved very much.  He is survived by his brothers Edgar (Eleanor) and Donald (Jeannine), and his sisters Marion (Boyd), Muriel, Charlotte (late Leroy), Verna (late Gerry), and Noreen (Doug). He was predeceased by brothers Reg (Dorothy), Allen (Lila), Merle (Carmaine), his sister Dorothy (late Bernie), sister-in-law Norma and brothers-in-law Bernard (Bernie) Doiron, Leroy Gallant, and Gerry Champaigne.

He was also survived by sisters-in-law Louise (Norbert) Leger and Diane Landry.

Ross was the pillar of his family. There was only one answer for his family to the question « who you gonna call ?» …Ross! When it came to his family needing help to babysit his grandchildren or his grand dogs, fix a roof, build a shed, deal with a flood, get a load of mulch for the garden, help paint, need a drive, cut a tree…Ross was always there for everyone.

His love for sports ran deep, from playing to coaching to watching, Ross’ passion was truly admirable.

Sports are where he made many of his best lifelong friends (such as the Pine Needles golf Tuesday group of 22), where he excelled as an athlete (one of the best fastball catchers of his time in the area), where he was adored as a coach (from his nephew’s team in Peewee to the many minor hockey and baseball teams his son played), where he watched, supported and cheered his 4 grandchildren at their many games and practices (hockey, soccer, and badminton), to finally watching his adored Montreal Canadians (unfortunately not with many winning seasons) and to a once in a lifetime opportunity joining his great friends at Augusta National, one of golf’s most prestigious courses to watch a practice round before the Masters.

But above all, to Ross, the journey which started on a rainy Friday night in October 1971 when a young Bernice who had just gotten her license decided to stop and offer a drive to a young long-haired Ross, which led to a 49-year marriage with 2 kids and 4 grandkids. That was where his heart was biggest and his love deepest, with his partner, his friend, his wife, his love.  Ross became a family favorite with Bernice’s parents (late Joseph and Berthe Landry), and he very quickly won their hearts as well.

To many, Ross was the person people gravitated to, looked up to, laughed with, and loved immensely. While his physical presence will be dearly missed, the memories and love he blessed us with will carry on in our hearts!

Visitation will be held from Passage, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, (506) 532-1050, on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, from 1 pm to 2:45 pm, funeral service in the chapel at 3 pm, followed by a reception.

The funeral service will be recorded and added to our website after the service.

The family would like to thank the amazing support and care received from the NB Paramedics, the Shediac Fire Department, the Georges Dumont Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care units, the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Saint-John Regional Hospital, and a special mention to Ronnie Cormier for his swift action which contributed to providing the opportunity for loved ones to be at Ross’ side.

In memory of Ross, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the CHU Dumont Foundation or donor’s choice.

The family invites you to sign a book of condolences at:

Arrangements under the professional care of Passage Funeral Cooperative and Cremation Center.
