Moncton, NB – Sténio Poirier, 88, passed away peacefully on his own term at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Grande-Anse, NB, he was the son of the late Roméo and the late Clara Poirier (born Landry).
All his life he loved working with numbers, being a bank manager and accountant everything needed to balance even until his last day. He was a proud man and loved watching CNN.
Sténio will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Lucia (born Thériault); his children, Marie-Thérèse Baril of Mandeville, QC, Gaston (Johanne) of Repentigny, QC and Réjean (Nicole) of Moncton; his brothers, Maurice of Dieppe and Réginald (Jeanne Cormier) of Bathurst; his sisters, Raymonde Noël (late Vincent) and Lorraine Poirier (late Valmond Dugas) both of Bathurst; his grandchildren, Cédric and Karelle; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gérald (Gertrude) and Claude (Adeline).
As per Sténio’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service at the funeral home. Burial in Grande-Anse at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology) or to a charity of your choice.
We, the family would like to thank the staff at the hospital including the nurses and doctors. Also the extra-murals, especially Viola for their special care and professionalism.
