In Loving Memory Of
Stephen Michael Rouse
1982 - 2023

After a year long valiant battle with cancer, with his devoted soul mate of the last 23 years Renée by his side every step of the way, we sadly announce the passing of the Original Viking of STA, Stephen Michael Rouse, of Dieppe NB, on Monday, April 10, 2023 (born March 2, 1982).

Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Stephen can attest to his sincere kindness, his inspirational wisdom, his charismatic wit and his unforgettable charm – not to mention his epic beard! Alongside his wonderful wife, Stephen experienced life to its absolute fullest. What this spectacular young man accomplished during his short life is nothing short of legendary. Those who were blessed to have spent even just a short amount of time with this influential human have been touched by a true gem, a real ray of sunshine. There is no doubt that Stephen’s spirit will forever live on through the hearts of everyone he has touched.

Stephen is survived by the love of his life, Renée Rouse and their three cats: Kegero, Dakuan, and Shinobi; his mother Pat Rouse; his sister Lisa Rouse (Yves), nephew Zachary and godson Rylen; and members of Renée’s family: Éliane Doucet (Bobby), Véronique (Mitch), godson Seb, and Jacques (Giselle). He is also survived by loving extended families composed of nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and an astounding legion of friends far and wide.

Stephen was predeceased by his father Terry Rouse (1998), his maternal and paternal grandparents, some close family members and friends as well as Jubei, beloved cat.

After the passing of their father, Stephen became a protector and role model to his kid sister Lisa. His care and support has since reached countless people, and his compassionate kindness was evident daily. Proudly employed at Home Hardware Dieppe (2002-09) and since then at Public Works at the City of Dieppe, Stephen happily served his community and was, not only a true asset to the team, but a real friend to his colleagues.

His time away from work was consumed by living life to the fullest! Stephen’s fun loving energy was spent undertaking countless projects and pursuing multiple passions: motorbiking, skateboarding, hosting epic parties, storytelling, concocting the next AOT Enterprises initiative, making and playing and listening to music, road tripping, car camping, rubber boating, video gaming, making and eating sushi… just to name a few. In everything, Stephen loved Ren most of all.

Immense gratitude to the multiple individuals and many teams of people who helped Stephen and Renée through the colossal challenges of the last year.

Wise words from the viking himself: “Don’t delay, have fun today!”

  13. The eulogy for our friend Stephen Rouse, published in the obituary, as written by the author, is nothing short of being praise worthy. The writer’s words describe Stephen perfectly.
As a former Superintendent of Dieppe’s Public Works Department, I can honestly, and with absolute certainty, attest that as an employee of the City, Stephen was an exemplary, and unmatched leader, who taught us how to serve others . At work, he brightened everyone’s day, every day. Those of us, who had the good fortune of crossing life’s path with Stephen, will share a tear of sadness, which is actually a reflection of the joy that Stephen brought us all.
Our Heavenly Father has called his son home, and we must now continue to live life, similar to the way that Stephen showed us.
