In Loving Memory Of
Ulysse Bastarache
1935 ~ 2026

Cocagne, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ulysse Bastarache of Cocagne, which occurred on May 6, 2026, at the age of 91, at the Moncton City Hospital.

Born in Saint-Damien, NB, on January 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Éloi Bastarache and the late Joséphine Bastarache (née Léger).

Ulysse is survived by his son, André Bastarache of Cocagne; his special companion, Jeannita Goguen of Notre-Dame-de-Kent; his sisters, Maria Bastarache (late Len) of Ontario and Mélina Bastarache (late Don) of Moncton; and his brothers, Guy of Moncton and Yvon of Massachusetts, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ulysse enjoyed moose hunting in the fall, playing cards (200), striped bass fishing (Striper), smelt ice fishing, and tending to his garden. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life.

Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Anna, he was predeceased by his sisters: Thérèse, Claudette, and Bella; and his brothers: Gérard “Joe,” Normand, Noël, and Paul.

Donations in Ulysse’s memory may be made to the Saint-Pierre Cocagne Cemetery Fund.

Visitation will be held at the Saint-Pierre Cocagne Church slumber room on Wednesday May 13, 2026, from 2 pm to 3h30 pm and a funeral service will follow at 4 pm in the church.

A lunch will be served at the Club d’Age d’Or in Cocagne following the funeral.
