Grande-Digue, NB – Verena Haldemann, 75, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, NB on Friday, November 1, 2019.
Born in Worb, Switzerland, immigrant to Canada in 1968, she was a humanist and feminist who researched and teached sociology for elders at the University of Moncton. Mrs. Haldemann was also a great violoncellist and an amateur of chamber music.
She leaves in mourning her family, numerous friends in New Brunswick, Quebec, Switzerland, United States and Haïti; also co-workers from the scientific community and amateur music friends.
Widow of the late Renaud Bernardin, mother of Jeanne Bernardin (Georges Tétégan) and Jacques-Alexis Bernardin (Catherin Légaré), grandmother of Raphaëlle, Julien, Chistophe and Arthur. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Greti Haldemann and nieces and nephews close to her heart.
She was predeceased by her parents, Paul Haldemann and Lina Elizabeth Spring; also a sister, Regine (Schmidt) and a brother, Hans Haldemann.
A commemoration in her memory will be held at a later date. In keeping with Verena’s wishes, she will be resting in Grande-Digue’s cemetery.
