In Loving Memory of Wendy Hughson

Wendy Hughson passed away peacefully at Albert House Hospice Center on July 27, 2026, at the age of 66.

There are some people who leave an impression wherever they go, and Wendy was one of them. She was a witty woman who could make you laugh, tell you exactly what she thought, and somehow make you feel stronger just by being around her.

She faced life with curiosity, grit, and a sense of humour that never seemed to disappear, no matter what she was up against. She had a quick wit, a sharp tongue when it was deserved, and a heart big enough to rescue hundreds of cats.

One of the greatest examples of her strength was her journey through a double lung transplant. It was a roller-coaster filled with challenges that would have broken many people, but not her. She met every setback with courage, resilience, and, somehow, a witty joke that could make even the hardest days a little lighter. She taught us that strength isn’t about never struggling—it’s about choosing to keep fighting, one day at a time.

She leaves behind to carry on her memory her life partner, Brock Terris; her stepdaughter, Brooke Hamilton (Bradon) and her granddaughter, Freyja (to whom she was Mima).

Also left to cherish Wendy’s memory are her mother, Helen Hughson; her brother and sisters, Valerie (and the late Frank), Debby McAllister (Peter), Stephen Hughson (Joanne) and Cindy Hughson (John). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Wendy was predeceased by her cherished father, Leonard Hughson.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, they are also full of gratitude. We were lucky to love her, to go fishing with her and share a laugh and a lobster dinner with her.

As per her wishes, there will be no visits at the funeral home or funeral services.

The family would like to thank her dedicated and compassionate Toronto lung transplant team and the caring team at the Moncton Hospice Center.

In memory of Wendy Hughson, a donation to New Brunswick Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.

Wendy is and will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Funeral arrangements are under the professional care of Passage Funeral Cooperative 625 ch. Mountain Rd Moncton New Brunswick E1C2P1 506-855-1145

  14. To Brock and family

I was saddened to hear of Wendy’s passing.

As I looked back through the many messages we shared over the years, I realized something that speaks clearly to the kind of person she was. Time and again, despite everything she was facing with her own health, she often reached out to ask how I was doing, checking in on my family, and offering kindness and encouragement through some of the most difficult times in my life.

She had such a caring and compassionate heart. Even after everything she endured—from her lung transplant to the challenges that followed—she never seemed to lose her ability to think of others first. That is something I will always remember.

Her strength, resilience, and genuine kindness touched more people than she probably ever realized. I feel grateful to have known her and to have called her my friend.

My heartfelt condolences to all who loved her. May you find comfort in the memories you shared and in knowing how deeply she was admired and appreciated.

Rest peacefully, my friend. You will be missed and remembered with love.

    Kellie, Tyler & Aiden

  28. Devasted to hear the news of Wendy’s passing. I had the privilege of meeting her in Toronto -she shared a room with my daughter. It was amazing to hear her stories of growing up, her mom getting fresh fish for supper while they were at school. She spoke of her father as well and her experience in being in Toronto. We also learned of her care for animals. We spoke about our love of reading and books that we enjoyed. Though I had a short experience with Wendy her impact will be lasting. Thinking of the family at this difficult time.

  29. Dear Mrs Hughson and family,

We send you love and strength during this difficult time. May happy memories of Wendy bring you comfort.

    Holding you in our hearts,

    Janice and Dickie Family
