William Allister “Al” MacNeill, 86, of Dieppe, passed away on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Guy and the late Maud (née: Frampton) MacNeill.
Mr. MacNeill will be sadly missed and greatly remembered as the person who opened his heart and home to over 500 children. He always had a joke and a ready smile for everyone he met. Al was a WW II veteran, having served with the air force. Al had retired from T. Eaton Co., and was also an avid bowler.
Mr. MacNeill is survived by three daughters: Theresa and Sandy (Eric) LeBlanc, both of Dieppe and Sheila of Moncton; two sons: Brian (Cathy) and Omer, both of Dieppe; numerous foster children; four sisters: Gertrude Steeves of Moncton, Louisa Paige of Riverview, Joyce Turner of Rothesay and Juanita (Dick) McLeod of Sackville; one brother, Henry of Barrie, ON; four grandchildren: Jason, Shelly, David and Troy; six great grandchildren; Ashley, Tanisha, Courtney, Riley, Alexander and Jayden as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita in 1999; four sisters: Alice, Martha, Geraldine and Connie; three brothers: Everett, Douglas and Clifford and also by two grandsons: Christopher and Shawn.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Monday, September 25th, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
The legion will be holding a prayer service on Monday evening at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Ste-Therese Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 at 11am.
Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
