St-Damien – Surrounded by his loving family Albéo Cormier, 77, of St- Damien went to heaven on Saturday, April 14, 2012 after a battle with cancer at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
Born in St-Damien, NB on April 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Ambroise and the late Marie-Rose (LeBlanc) Cormier.
He owned and operated two successful businesses before his retirement, South Bay Construction Ltd. and Albéo Cormier Dozer Shop.
Albéo was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing. He loved to sing accompanied by his nephew. He recorded a CD and all of the entire proceeds where donated to the Cancer Society. He was loved and respected by everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing his warm kindness, keen sense of humor, and his appreciation of life and profound love of family. Albéo was a member of the Club d’Âge d’Or de Saint-Antoine and the Club de Chase et Pêche de Saint-Antoine.
Albéo will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 49 years, Rose-Marie (née LeBlanc) Cormier, 4 children, Sheila Gesner (Rick) of Athol, Mass, Mona Kennedy (Vance) of Fredericton, Danny of St-Damien & Cindy LeBlanc (Charles) of Haute-Aboujagane; ten grandchildren Lisa Burnham (Ross) of Raeford, NC, Charles Gesner (Brittany) of Norfolk, VA, Laura and Aaron Gesner of Athol, Mass, Corey Kennedy (Denise) and Colbi all of Fredericton; Tchad, Chloe, Chelsey & Tanisha LeBlanc all of Haute-Aboujagane; two great grandchildren, MaKenzie and Mason Burnham; two brothers, Nap Cormier (Irma) of Moncton & Aldérice Cormier of McKees Mills and by many nieces & nephews .
Besides his parents, Albéo was predeceased by five sisters, Aline, Alvina, Elmire, Éveline & Mélindé, four brothers, Clément, Roger, Donald & Léandre.
The Cormier family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff who took wonderful care of Dad.
Visitations will be at the Slumber Room, Saint-Antoine on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 2:00 – 3:30pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint-Antoine l’Ermite RC Church in Saint-Antoine on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 4:00pm with a reception to follow at the Club d’Âge d’Or de Saint-Antoine. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery at a later date.
Donations to the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital Palliative Care Department would be appreciated by the family.
