Born in Neguac, NB, he was the son of the late Prudent and the late Marie-Jeanne Savoie (nee Basque). He served with the Canadian Merchant Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy. Alphonse owned and operated Hilltop Furniture and Appliances for many years.
Alphonse will be missed by his special companion, Marjorie Richardson of Moncton; by his three daughters, Paulette Neville (René) of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, Martine Savoie (Glen) of Montreal, QC and Joanne Savoie of Bouctouche; by his sister, Jeannette Joly (Jean-Jacques) of Ottawa, ON; by the mother of his children, Antonine (Robichaud) Savoie of Bouctouche; by his five grandchildren, Jacques (Wendjie), Isabelle, Julien, Mélissa and Marc-André; by his great grandson, Jaden; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and by Marjorie’s children and grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Danielle Savoie, by his son Joseph, by his sister, Lorraine Robichaud and by his two brothers, Adélard and Léonard.
As per Alphonse’s request there will be no visitation at the funeral home or funeral service. Burial to take place at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.
