Bernard LeBlanc, 63, of Dieppe, passed away on Wednesday October 17th, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB.

It is with great sadness that the artistic community and his family bid farewell to a wise and generous humanitarian.
Considered a pioneer of Acadian theater during the past thirty years, Mr LeBlanc worked tirelessly for the recognition of the Acadian artist.

Best known for his comedic talent, he also brought to life some twenty theater roles and over ten character on the big screen. We cannot forget to mentioned the many backdrop settings he created with his magic as a carpenter.
Mr. LeBlanc was a founding member of “théâtre l’Escaouette”, “Centre Culturel Aberdeen”, where he operated a carpenter’s workshop, and along with his wife (for the last few years), operated Café Jacob.

He became an icon of the Acadian theater with his staring role in “Laurie ou La vie de galerie”, which he portrayed 217 times, where thousands of spectators recognized his amazing talent.

Born in Cormier’s Cove, NB, he was the son of the late Aurèle and the late Olida (née: Leger) LeBlanc.

He is survived by his wife, Viola (née: LeBlanc); three daughters: Maria Langis of Moncton, Nathalie (Mathieu Landry) of Grand-Barachois and Sophie (Andrew) at home; two sons: Maurice (Cynthia) of Dieppe and Mario dit Fayo (Sylvette) of Moncton; 6 sisters: Jeannita (Neri) LeBlanc, Aurela (Alonzo) Cormier, Aline (Amand) LeBlanc, Angela (Raoul) Melanson, Hermance (Edgar) Cormier and Francine LeBlanc; two brothers: Dr. Paul-Emile (Thérèse) and Rodolphe (Claire); 6 grandchildren: Marc, Monica, Samuel, Dominique, Jacob and Marielle as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers: Ronaldo, Joseph, Normand and Bernard

Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB 857-1901, on Sunday, October 21st, from 7 to 9 pm; on Monday, October 22nd, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Tuesday from 9: 30 am until time of departure.

Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint Thomas de Memramcook Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007 at 11 am.

Interment in Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB.

Donations to the War Amps of Canada or the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation “Tree of Hope” would be appreciated by the family.
