 Claude Curwin
1937 ~ 2019

Moncton, NB – Claude Bertram Curwin, 81, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital, on Sunday, April 14, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Ralph and Marjorie (Clark) Curwin.

Claude loved his family very much. He was a gentle, caring, kind, giant of a man. He travelled the world with his wife, Helen, by his side. Their love was always there for each other.

He worked for Transport Canada for many years, later teaching air traffic control in Canada and around the world. He was proud to be one of the first members of CATCA, the union for Canadian air traffic controllers.

Claude loved learning and sharing his knowledge with those he knew, especially young people. He was a passionate and dedicated community member, serving and volunteering on many committees and boards, as well as spending four years as a town councillor and deputy mayor in Riverview.

He was especially proud of his two children, Lisa and Trevor, and his three grandchildren, supporting them in everything they did. He was also honoured that all three grandchildren chose to follow into a career in air traffic control, as well.

Claude leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years, Helen Curwin (Bowe); his children, Lisa Brown (Fred) and Trevor (Miriam); grandchildren Jessie Brown of Moncton, Siobhan (Ben) Brown of Sackville, and Alex (Victoria) Brown of Moncton; his sister, Betty Swetnam; his brothers, Gerry (Joan), Jim (Marjorie), Bill (Linda), Allistar (Christine), as well as many nieces and nephews in the Curwin and Bowe families.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Anna LeBlanc, Ralph, Don, Clark, and Robert.

Visitation will be at Passage Funeral Chapel (625 Mountain Rd, Corner West Lane, Moncton), Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm. There will be no Funeral Service.

Donations can be made in Claude’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Moncton Lions Club Sick Children Fund Inc., the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.

Many thanks to the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC and the Moncton Hospital for the care and comfort they gave Claude and also to many family and friends who were there for Claude in his final days.

The family invites you to sign an online book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
