It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Dion LeBlanc, 49, of Moncton, on May 22, at home.
Born in Dieppe, NB, he was the youngest son of Anne-Marie Gregory and the late Norman LeBlanc.
Dion worked in the food service industry for many years and was currently with the catering division of the Tide and Boar Gastropub in Moncton.
An avid sports enthusiast on and off the field, Dion participated in numerous sports; baseball, tennis and ultimate frisbee; however, curling was his sport of choice and it was a pleasure to watch him play. Dion was a season ticket holder of the Moncton Magic Basketball team and could easily be spotted in the stands with his homemade posters, enthusiastically cheering on his team.
Known for his epic Scrabble games, experimental cooking flavours, all night trivia tournaments, and really bad puns, Dion had a keen intelligence and a curious, adventurous spirit. A voracious reader, Dion could quote from mainstream authors to the obscure, usually within the same conversation. No one names his cats Sir Johannes Kepler and Tycho Brahe without a wink to oneself.
Above all, Dion was a fiercely loyal son, brother, and friend. Dion was a gentle soul in an often unkind world, and the burden was sometimes difficult to bear. Compassionate to a fault, Dion wore his heart on his sleeve and just wanted everyone to get along and play nice. He believed in fairness, respect, kindness, and forgiveness.
Loved by all, Dion leaves behind to mourn his devoted mother Anne-Marie, brother Sylvio (Cristiana) LeBlanc; sister Lisette (Michel) Cormier; aunt Carmel Melanson; step-sisters Diane Fury and Kim Gregory, step-brother Murray (Shannon) Gregory; nephews Martin Cormier and Cameron Fury; and Goddaughter and niece Mylène Cormier.
Predeceased by his cherished paternal grand-parents Daniel and Laudia, maternal grand-parents William and Hélène, his father Norman, aunt Marguerite, stepfather Jon Paul, and baby sister Colette.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Instead of donations, the family asks that you remember Dion with small, random acts of kindness. Knowing his memory might perhaps inspire kindness and brighten someone’s day would be, for him, a meaningful legacy.
