Donald J. Gallant, 77, of Dieppe, NB, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012, at the Moncton Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Joe and the late Ola (née: Ritchie) Gallant.
Mr. Gallant retired from Canada Bread (Eastern Bakery) after 40 years. He loved going to the wharf at Pointe-du-Chêne and also enjoyed his cottage with his family and his many friends. Donald often spent time at Champlain Mall, having coffee with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years of marriage, Barbara Ann (née: Harris); three daughters: Sandra Gallant (Leo), Karen Brooker and Donna Gallant (Dave) all of Moncton; one sister, Carol (Ron) Hutcheson of Riverview; five grandchildren: Sybrina, Tasha, Tessa, Tricia and Mathieu; five great grandchildren: Bradley, Riley, Aden, Brodie and Holden; his mother-in-law, Catherine Harris as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one granddaughter, Érica and by two sisters: Marion Carson and Joan Edgar.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday from 7 to 9 pm only.
Interment in the Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation "Dialysis Unit" would be appreciated by the family.
A special thank you, to Dr. Dorval and his team of the Dialysis Unit at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, to the staff of the Moncton Hospital as well as to the Canadian Blood Services, for the wonderful care given to Donald.
Après une longue maladie, entourée de sa famille à l’Hôpital de Moncton, le mardi 23 octobre, 2012, à l’âge de 77 ans, est décédé Donald J. Gallant. Il demeurait à Dieppe, N.-B.
Né à Moncton, N.-B., il était fils de feu Joe et de feu Ola (née: Ritchie) Gallant.
Après 40 ans de travail, M. Gallant avait pris sa retraite de Canada Bread (Eastern Bakery). Il aimait passer du temps au quai de la Pointe-du-Chêne et à son chalet avec de nombreux amis et famille. On le retrouvait souvent au centre d’achat en train de prendre un café entre amis.
Il laisse dans le deuil, son épouse de 54 ans, Barbara Ann (née: Harris); trois filles: Sandra Gallant (Leo), Karen Brooker et Donna Gallant (Dave) tous de Moncton; une soeur, Carol (Ron) Hutcheson de Riverview; cinq petits-enfants: Sybrina, Tasha, Tessa, Tricia et Mathieu; cinq arrière petits-enfants: Bradley, Riley, Aden, Brodie et Holden; sa belle-mère, Catherine Harris ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Outre ses parents, sa petite-fille, Érica; deux soeurs: Marion Carson et Joan Edgar l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le vendredi de 19h à 21h seulement.
L’inhumation se fera au colombaire de la maison funéraire Chartersville, à Dieppe, N.-B.
Au lieu des fleurs, un don à la Fondation des Amis de l’Hôpital de Moncton ou à la Fondation Hôpital Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont « unité de dialyse », serait apprécié par la famille.
La famille aimerait accorder un remerciement spécial au Dr Dorval et à son équipe de l’unité de dialyse du Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, aux employés de l’Hôpital de Moncton ainsi qu’à la Société canadienne du sang pour leurs nombreux soins et services envers Donald.
