Donald Joseph Surette, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 20th, 2017, after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Born in Moncton, NB, on July 9th, 1942, Don was a painter and was retired employee of the New Brunswick Community College in Moncton. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid gardener who loved to share his vegetables every year. He loved the outdoors and animals, especially his dachshund grand-dogs: Willie and Gunther. The morning coffee meetings with friends always made his day.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvette (Arseneault) Surette; his daughter, Janice Surette of Riverview; his son, Richard Surette (Patrice Wilson) of Windsor, ON; grandchildren: Jolyne, Isabelle and Evan Surette of Windsor, ON; sisters: Dian (Edward) LeBlanc and Barbara (Edgar) Richard; brother, Robert "Bobby" Surette; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles Surrette, his mother, Edna (Cormier) Surrette and also by his infant brother, Ricky.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday from 7 to 9 pm and also on Saturday from 11:30 am until time of departure.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, on Saturday, March 25th, 2017 at 1 pm, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
Donations to NB Doctors Cycling against Cancer would be appreciated by the family.
