Cocagne, NB – Edmée Richard Surette, 94, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, May 17, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Parkton on August 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Mélanie (Surette) Richard.
Edmée was a very spiritual woman; she became a Reiki Master the day of her 93rd birthday. She loved to do crosswords puzzles.
Edmée will be sadly missed by her four daughters, Hedwidge Surette (Ronald Gaudet) of Notre-Dame, Gérène Surette (late Michel Arseneau-2012) of Rothesay, Carmel Surette and Bernette Surette (Léonard Goguen) both of Village des Breau in Cocagne; her four sons, Robert “Bobby” (Lillian) of Parkton, Rodrigue (Joy Landry), Dolan (Huguette Michaud) and Conrad (at home) all of Village des Breau in Cocagne; her two brothers, Armand Richard (Eva) of St-Antoine, Hector-Eddy Richard (late Aline-2013) of Sunny Brae; her ten grandchildren, Christian, Izmaël, Nathaël, Michaël, Mélanie, Gémaël, Josué, Sacha, Yoann et Mylène; her two great granddaughters, Nadège et Éliza; her sister-in-law, Stella Richard of St-Antoine; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Robert (2005), she was predeceased by a daughter, Rachel (1953); a son, Claude (1982); a great granddaughter, Sorelle (2005); three sisters, little Lorraine (1920), Lorraine (1992), Mabel (1998); two brothers, Clarence (2001), Edgar (2003); and a very special uncle, Jos Surette (1986).
Visitation will be at the Cocagne Slumber Room on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 9:30 am until time of the funeral. The funeral mass will be at the St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11 am.
