Moncton, NB – Emile Gallant, 92, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014.

Born in Rogersville, NB, he was the son of the late George and the late Émilia Gallant (nee LeClair).

A veteran of the Second World War, Emile served in England and Holland with Canadian Army, The Royal 22nd Regiment from 1939 to 1945. Past owner of the Gallant Steering Services in Moncton. Emile built and enjoyed playing fiddle with Yvan Hicks and the Sussex Fiddlers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and making different types of tools. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6, Moncton, Knights of Columbus council # 6468, he also enjoyed playing pool at the Knights of Columbus.

Emile will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Gérarda Gallant (nee Bernard) of Moncton; by his daughter, Alice Gallant of Dieppe; by his six sons, Normand (Doris) of Moncton, Léonard of Ottawa, ON, Laurie of Montreal, QC; Roland of Moncton, Maurice (Mary) of Moncton, Claude (Jeannine) of Moncton; by his three sisters, Irène Gallant of Burlington, ON, Anita LaBerge (Gilles) of St. Hubert, QC, Stella Fulton of Hanley, NB. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; by three great grandchildren; and also by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Sr. Régina Gallant, Bertha Pelletier; by three brothers, Guillaume, Léandre and Donald.

Visitations will be at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Sunday, December 7th, 2014, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. There will be no visitation at the funeral home Monday morning. A Legion service will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at 3:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church, 854 Mountain Road, Moncton on Monday, December 8th, 2014 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Mental Health Association or to the charity of the donor`s choice would be appreciated by the family.
