Éric is survived by his wife, Gilberte Auclair; his children, Hélène, Louise, Daniel, Caroline (Richard Verlaan), Paul (Ann Wanasa), Jean (Katreece Wilson) and Anne (Darrel Cox); 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Anne-Marie (Martin), Alexandre (Élodie), Louis-Philippe (Clémence), Rebecca, Sébastien, Sophia, Isabelle, Olivia, Jean-François, Éric-Gilbert, Annabelle, Victoria and Samuel; a great-granddaughter, Sophie; his brother, Pierre (Louise Girouard); and by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Éric held a Bachelor of Arts from Collège du Sacré-Coeur de Bathurst (1947), a Bachelor of Sciences from Université de Montréal (1950) and a Master in Bacteriology, Immunology and Mycology from McGill University (1955). He was director of laboratories in various hospitals (Gaspé, QC, Moncton Regional Hospital, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts Hospital, QC and Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre). He was also responsible for implementing the medical laboratory technology program at the Cegep of Rimouski, QC. An avid reader and music lover, Éric also played the organ in different churches in New Brunswick and Quebec.
Special thanks are due to the health-care personnel of Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, especially the staff in departments 3F and 4A, to Dr. Whalen, as well as to Shediac Extra-Mural, and to home-care service (Angèle and Jeannette).
Visitation will be held at the Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Sunday, December 28, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be no visitation on Monday morning at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be held at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Grande-Digue on Monday, December 29, at 11:00 am.
Donations to the Parkinson Society Canada, the CHU Dumont Foundation and the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
