Evelyn was a retired registered nurse. She attended the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated from the Quo Vadis School of Nursing in Toronto. She was a much respected nurse in hospitals in Ontario and New Brunswick. Evelyn’s life was long and happy, filled with much love, laughter and adventure. During her lifetime she resided in many places, from the east coast to the west coast, but her heart was always in her beloved Gaspereau, NB, where she and Johnny spent many happy years after retirement. She was always interested in other people’s stories and had the ability to make lifelong friends wherever she went. She had many interests in life, was an avid reader, kept up to date on current events and loved discussing politics. One of her pastimes was quilting. Over the years she produced many beautiful quilts, which are now the cherished possessions of her family. Evelyn was known for her wonderful sense of humour and her joy of life. This, combined with her deep love of family has left a legacy of love and laughter, a treasure trove of beautiful memories.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters Barbara Rombough, Moncton, and Mary Woods (Gary Owen), Roblin ,ON, and daughter-in- law Marilyn Graham, as well as her seven grandchildren; Christopher Rombough, WindJen Rombough, Norah Brien, Kate Lee, Stephen Woods, Janna Graham, Rebecca Graham, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Samuel Graham (2008), son Kimball (Kim) Graham (1993), brothers Andrew and Garfield, sisters Gwen and Barbara, and by sons-in-law Ashur Rombough and Barry Woods. Heartfelt thanks from the family to the staff of Autumn Lee Retirement home for their loving care for Mom over the past three years.
According to Evelyn’s wishes, after cremation there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at a later date in the Chipman United Church, where she was an enthusiastic member. Interment will be at Redbank United Church Cemetery, Chipman.
Donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Society of New Brunswick.
