 Fernande Vienneau
1960 – 2018

Halifax, NS – It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the death of Fernande Vienneau at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, NS, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the age of 58. Born in Cocagne, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Surette (2014) and Cécile Surette.

She is survived and will be sorely missed by her husband of 35 years, Maurice Vienneau of Halifax; her two dear children, Mélissa Sivret (Philippe) of Halifax, Jérémie (Amélie) of Montréal; her grandson Xavier whom she adored with all her heart and loved to spoil more than anything; her mother (‘’mame’’ as she called her), Cécile Surette; her brothers and sisters, Charline Hébert (Danny), Carole Surette (Laurent Boudreau), Raymond Surette (Lucie) all of Cocagne, Annette Surette (Donald Doiron) of Shediac Bridge, André Surette (Marielle) of Saint-Joseph-de-Kent, Philippe Surette (Odette Doiron) of Shediac; her nephews and nieces, cousins and many friends as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, one niece and nephews of the Vienneau family.

Fernande worked for close to 30 years for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in various capacities in Fredericton, Halifax and Ottawa and everywhere she worked, she made lifelong friends. Equipped with an ‘’elephant memory’’ as they say, she could still recite the birth dates, phone numbers, etc., of everyone with who she became close friends. No need for a calendar or telephone book with Fernande.

Since the onset of a serious and incurable illness (multiple myeloma) more than 10 years ago, she was often called a ‘’model patient’’ wherever she went in the numerous clinics, including one she attended every 2 weeks for 7 years. Although the illness may have taken her life we will never say she lost the battle to cancer. She beat cancer in many ways. Given one year to live, maybe two, her family and friends had the good fortune to have her in their lives for more than 10 years after diagnosis. Her courage and resilience facing this illness are exemplary and have left their mark on many people around her.

Fernande was a very compassionate and caring person. Others’ needs always passed ahead of hers. She will be missed tremendously by many people.

Visitations will be at Passage Funeral Co-operative (3754 Route 134 in Shediac Bridge), on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm and on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 11 am to 12:20 pm. Funeral service will be held at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church, Cocagne, on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parish Saint-Pierre de Cocagne or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The family invites you to sign an online book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
