Moncton – George A. Biddington, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Moncton on November 29th, 1935, he was the son of the late Albert and Agnès (Collette) Biddington.
He was a former member of Moncton Curlers Association, a member and past president of the Beauséjour Curling Club (1985). He really enjoyed Curling for 25 years. He was on the team who won the Monctonian Bonspiel with well known Meddy Cormier in 1973. He was an above average billiard player, having played at Dooly’s for the past fifteen or so years and participated in two BCA Billiard Tournaments in Las Vegas, Nevada. He retired from Town Planning Commission as chief a building inspector and Zoning supervisor (1969-1991) for the Greater Moncton Planning Commission. In his retirement, he spent his summers at his cottage looking after his many flowers, feeding the birds especially “Henry” the pheasant who visited every day.
George is survived by his loving wife, Huguette Laforge for almost fifty years and his son, Pierre J. Biddington of Moncton whom he loved very much. Pierre was always ready to assist his father in every way possible especially during his dad’s long and courageous battle with cancer. George will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Elmer T. Biddington (Anne-Marie) and Normand Biddington (Dolores) both of Moncton; his six sisters, Violette Crawford, Marguerite Cormier (late Paul), Ruth Boudreau (late Walter), Irène Biddington, Mildred Biddington, Hazel Coleman (Ron) all of Moncton; also many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his brother, Albert and his infant son, Stéphane.
In respect to George’ wishes, there will be no visitations. Funeral service will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce RC Church Parkton in Moncton on Monday, July 18th at 11 am, followed by a reception at the church hall.
Donations to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Foundation and the Oncology Centre, Heart & Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
