Moncton, NB – Hector Joseph Babineau, 87, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, Moncton, on Thursday, March 20th, 2014. Husband of the late Marie (nee Melanson) Babineau (2008).

Born in St. Norbert, NB on October 27th, 1926, he was the son of the late Gérard and the late Alice Babineau (nee Boucher).

Hector was employed as a Railway Carman with C.N. Rail and VIA Rail for 46 years. He was an avid bowler, being on different teams for 35 years at Fairlanes Bowling Centre, Moncton, a member of the Beauséjour Curling Club and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1310 in Sunny Brae. He and his late wife Marie enjoyed popular and ballroom dancing, skating, bowling, volunteered their time delivering Meals on Wheels, enjoyed travelling and socializing with family and friends. He will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances and also by the early morning coffee group at Champlain Irving.

Hector will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Alcide (late Anita) of Sutton, ON, Arthur (Thérèse) of Bouctouche; his seven sisters, Lina LeBlanc (late Ola) of Dieppe, Donalda Morel (Jean-Louis) of Montreal, QC, Maria Haché (Camille) of Montreal, QC, Sr. Noëlla Babineau, N.D.S.C. of St. Paul-de-Kent, Carmene Boucher (late Élie) of Kingfield, ME, Anna Gosselin (Raymond) of Montreal, QC, Alfreda Soucy (Benoit) of Montreal, QC; he also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Jacques (1986); two sisters, Doris Gaudet (late Frank), Émerise Richard (late Benoit); one brother, Cyril (late Élise).

Visitations will be at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Monday, March 24th, 2014 from 1:00 pm till the time of service. Funeral service will be held at the Passage Funeral Chapel, Moncton at 3:00pm.
