Cocagne, NB – Irène Cormier, 94, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, April 28, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Cocagne, NB on February 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Albert and the late Marie (Léger) Melanson.

Irène will be sadly missed by her six daughters, Monique Cormier, Marie-Mai LeBlanc (Gérard), Stella Maillet (Emile) all of Cocagne, Odette Cormier (Hector) of Moncton, Francine Cormier-Maillet (Antoine) of Cocagne and Dianne Cormier (Adrien) of Notre-Dame-de-Kent; her three sisters, Muriel LeBlanc (late Francis) of Moncton, Bernadette LeBlanc of Bouctouche and Albertine LeBlanc (late Antoine) of Dieppe; her four grandchildren, Chantal, Mathieu, Lise and Luc; her great-grandson, Dominik; also by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jean-Baptiste Cormier (2005); her sister, Lina; her eight brothers, Gérard, Emile, Alphé, Lionel, Edmond, Arsène, Irèné and Oscar.

Visitations will be at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne slumber room on Wednesday, April 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, May 1 from 10 am until time of funeral. Funeral service will be held at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Thursday, May 1 at 11 am.
