1937 ~ 2019

Cocagne, NB – Jean-Guy Goguen, 81, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

Born in Cocagne, NB, he was married to Lauria Goguen (nee LeBlanc) and was the son of the late Robert A. Goguen and the late Délina Goguen (nee Robichaud).

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humour, kindness and generosity.
He loved spending the winter months in Florida, and also enjoyed going to hockey games, especially those of his sons and grandsons.

As a young man returning from Toronto in 1959, he came to live on his father’s farm which is now known as ‘‘La Fleur Du Pommier’’. In 1966, he co-founded ‘‘Moncton Drywall Ltd’’ which operated until the 1980’s. Also he was the founder and past owner of ‘‘ISOX Maritime Ltd’’.
He was a parishioner of the St Pierre Roman Catholic Church in Cocagne as well as a member of the Golden Age Club.

Over the years, he was active in various organizations:
• Past president of the Conseil Récréatif de Cocagne, ADEL-KENT-LEDA, and CADC-KENT-CFC
• Commodore of the Cocagne Regettas
• Past member of Business Roundtable and the NB Fruit Growers’ Association
• Past Director of the Moncton Construction Association
• He seated on the Board of Directors, Kent Industrial Commission

Jean-Guy will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Lauria Goguen (nee LeBlanc); his children, Louise LeBlanc (Guy), Maurice (Lyne) both of Dieppe and Charles (Nicole) of Cocagne; his siblings, Roberta Arseneau (Emery) of Moncton, Carmelle Hay (late Bruce) of Ottawa and Paul (Irène) of Lewisville; his grandchildren, Joël and Luc LeBlanc, Gabriel and Jacques Goguen; his brother-in-law, Néri Bastarache of Shediac River; also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Simonne Boucher (late Tilmon) and Bernadette Bastarache.

To all the doctors, nurses and staff, your patience in listening and the care that you gave to Jean-Guy…we cannot thank you enough!

He will be resting at Passage in Shediac Bridge, visitations on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. There will be no visitation on Friday morning. Funeral service will be held at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne, on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11 am.
