She was the daughter of the late Aline and the late Raymond Despres from Cocagne, NB.
From 1961 – 1971 Jeannette worked as a Phlebotomist at the Dr. George-L.-Dumont Hospital. Then she worked at the Université de Moncton as a lab technician in the science department where she retired. In life, she was an avid reader and gardener and a passionate advocate for landowners who experienced issues with wood theft, making news headlines several times in her pursuit to make things right.
She was predeceased by her late husband Francis Mallet and her daughter Marie Mai Mallet. Jeannette had 9 siblings, Phyllis Despres-Geske, Lima Despres Comeau, Armand, Stephane, Romeo, Maurice and Leon, Patrick and Norma Despres.
She is survived by her children: Patricia Mallet Chervet of France, Francine Mallet Maillet of Grand-Barachois, Collette Mallet Dupuis of Halifax, Roger Mallet of Cocagne, Joe Mallet of Halifax, Gabrielle Mallet Fisher of Moncton, and Claire Mallet Ayle of Moncton. Jeannette will also be fondly remembered and missed by her 14 grandchildren: Shane, Tanya and Julie Fisher, Marcel and Daniel Dupuis, Caroline, Sylvain and Christian Chervet, Jason Maillet, Daniel Basque, Jeremy and Justin Mallet, Elianna and Simone McKinnon. She also had 27 great grandchildren.
A small gathering with family and friends will be held at a later date.
