Mr. Forest was born in Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick in 1922; he was the son of the late John and the late Minnie (Donelle) Forest.
Joseph will be sadly missed by his children: John (Bonnie) of Moncton, Michael (Linda) of Shediac, Carole Bourque (Paul) of Memramcook, Paulette Belanger (Raymond) and Marie-Paule Vienneau (Romeo), both of Cap-Pelé; he also leaves behind six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joseph was the last surviving member of his immediate family; he was predeceased by his former spouse, Rolande Gaudette; his brothers: Euloge, Flocel, Philandre and Jean-Paul and also by his sisters: Annie (Sr. Marie-Madeleine, n.d.s.c.), Louzina, Corrine and Gilberte.
Mr. Forest was a veteran of WW2 as a member of the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers and a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He participated in Operation Overlord in June, 1944 and served in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He served 25 honorable years in the Canadian military and retired at the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he was employed with different Federal Government departments all across Canada including Nunavut and Northwest Territories. He retired in Cap-Pelé.
Public visitation will be held from Sainte-Thérèse d’Avila funeral salon, Cap-Pelé, on Friday, April 16th, from 7 pm to 9 pm, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #91, will have a prayer service at 7 pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated from Sainte-Thérèse d’Avila RC Church, Cap-Pelé, on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 at 10:30 am, with a maximum of 200 people.
