Shediac Bridge, NB – Joseph “Joe” Melanson, 97, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Born in Haute-Aboujagane, he was the son of the late Willie and the late Mélina Melanson (born Landry). Joseph was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) and a member of the “Club d’âge d’or” of Grande-Digue.
Joseph is survived by three sons, Ronald (Cheryl) of Scotch Settlement Rd, Moncton, Ovila (Anita) of Shediac Bridge and Léon (late Juliette) of Cocagne; his two daughters, Marie Petrella (Dominic) of Newington, Connecticut and Jeannette Landry (Ronald) of Shediac Bridge; his daughter-in-law, Diane Melanson of Shediac River; his ten grandchildren, Sonia, Michael, Joanne, Daniel, Denis, Rachelle, Monique, Nicole, Mario and Carole; and four great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorice (2005); his son, Valerie (2012); six brothers, Edouard, Napolean, Théophile, Alcide and Arcade; and three sisters, Marie Richard, Anita Boudreau and Euphémie Richard.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 7pm to 9pm and on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 10am until time of the funeral service at the Chapel at 11am.
In memory of Joseph, donations can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Palliative Care) or to a charity of your choice.
