Joyce Anne Young (Beers)
1947- 2021
It with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Anne Young on Sept 14th, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital.
Joyce was born in Moncton, daughter of the late Bliss Beers and Louise Beers (Jardine). She was pre- deceased by her parents, her brother Wayne, her brother Alan and her sister Sharon Leblanc.
She is survived by partner Gordon Dunfield, her brother Gary Beers (Sandra) of Ottawa, her sister Gail of Moncton, her brother Greg (Sherry) of Grand Barachois. As well, her daughter Janice Cail of Shediac, (Denis Maillet) her son Chris Cummins (Charlene) of Fredericton. Also, her grandchildren Tara, Christian, and Olivia; great grandchildren Aliya, Aubree, Adelynn, Karley and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Joyce grew up in Moncton and worked for the Federal Government for 25 plus years in Moncton and in Ottawa. Joyce semi -retired and worked with numerous non- profits groups as well as working with the Federal Government again. Joyce also ran her own business part time for many years. Joyce got herself an education, worked hard, enjoyed her work and was well respected by her colleagues. She was a determined, smart, and hard- working person and because of that had a great career and life. Joyce was a fun, gentle, easy going and kind person with a strong fortitude.
Joyce cherished her family, her friends, time with her partner Gordon and her children and grandchildren. Joyce loved her times at Cape Brule, traveling (which she did extensively through her life) , walking, cards, anytime with her family especially her children and grandchildren , singing ( Karaoke) and dancing with her partner Gordon.
Joyce fought a tough battle, and in her typical determined, organized, and pragmatic fashion, she prepared herself and with that prepared her family for the challenge she had in front of her. Upon reflection Joyce reveled in the wonderful life she was grateful to have, she appreciated where she came from, her family, her friends, her work, her alter ego Doug, her travels (especially in the last decade plus with her partner Gordon) special get togethers with her children and those special times in her last few months; and of course, her cherished grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Moncton Hospital and the Palliative care team for all of their support. The family would like to thank Joyce’s partner Gordon for the ever- present support and care he gave her out of pure love.
Joyce would understand that we will feel sadness but would want us to remember the good times and the great experiences we would have shared with her with a smile on our faces. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. One last wish from Janice and Chris would be if you can, give your mom a hug today and hold her extra tight.
There will be no formal funeral arrangements but a family gathering at a later date.
The family invites you to sign an online book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
