Moncton, NB ~ Kenneth Wilson Martin, 58, passed away at the Moncton Hospital, on Monday, July 12, 2021.
Kenneth was a much-loved brother, uncle and cousin. He was born on December 9, 1962 in Montreal, QC to the late Kenneth Martin of Springton, PEI and the late Joyce Wilson of Montreal, QC. It is hard to find the words that capture the essence of Ken. He was a kind and gentle person, always smiling, with a huge heart and a wonderful quick wit. He was a voracious reader and you never saw him without a book in hand. His house was lined with books on every surface. Ken enjoyed soccer, walking in parks with his beloved Kerry Blue terrier Pippa and loved family get togethers. He looked forward to relaxing summer vacations in the Ocean Park Maine where he stopped in little bookshops on the drive down the coast. He was always the first on the beach in the morning, delighted to have claimed a good spot for us on the edge of the surf, with a daily pile of newspapers tucked under the beach umbrella.
Those who knew Ken, understood what a keen intellect he was. He was educated at Loyola College, a boys’ school in Montreal. He received a scholarship to Acadia University in Wolfville, NS where he studied business and then pursued his law degree at Dalhousie University. Ken practiced law for many years in Moncton until he could no longer work due to poor health.
Ken faced many serious health challenges over the past sixteen years, facing each challenge with a quiet resolve. Sadly, this last illness was too much for his worn-out body. Our hearts ached seeing him suffer so much.
Ken will be dearly missed by his three sisters: Leslie Ward (Brian), Anne Kinchen (Doug) and Janet Weatherson (Dean). He was a much-loved uncle to his seven nieces: Ashley Creighton, Laura Weatherson, Melanie Arseneault, Kaitlin Peynenburg, Erin Weatherson, Brittany Kinchen and Jenny Weatherson; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Ken will also be missed by many cousins on the Wilson and Martin sides of the family.
Ken was unique and a wonderful person who we lost far too soon. We will treasure our memories and miss him every day. May he now be at peace, safe in the arms of the angels.
As per Ken’s wishes, there will be no visitation and funeral service at the funeral home. A graveside internment to be held at a later date in Hartsville, PEI.
