THE OBITUARY IS ONLY IN ENGLISH
It is with profound sadness that the family of Lavetta A. Lund announce her passing at K. E. Spencer Memorial Home, on Thursday, February 16th, 2023 at the age of 85.
Born in New Horton, Albert County, N.B. on July 12th, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Stella (Butland) Kennie.
Lavetta was a member of St-Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church teaching catechism from our family home for many years. She had worked several positions in her early life, demonstrating her breadth of talents, before leaving her executive assistant position to focus full time on her most influential role of caring for and raising her family. She was an avid/gifted knitter, having learned early at just 3 years of age, producing unique hats, mittens, gloves and baby sweater sets that held the love with which they were created. An equally talented seamstress, she worked on many projects, never shying away from any challenge regardless of how big or how small, creating something new or repairing a special item, with a pattern or without, she always could figure it out. We will treasure evermore the results of her work, most notably those special baby bunnies. She loved to cook for her family and produced some amazing meals (often seen copying or cutting recipes out of magazines) that has left us with many special memories and traditions to carry on. A natural and tireless caregiver, frequently relied upon to look after sick family members. She loved gardening, especially protective of her rose bushes; fiddlehead and berry picking would be a must on any road trips.
She will be deeply missed by her husband: Ralph; her treasured children: Beverly (Roy), Darlene (Kevin), Darren (Suzanne) and Heather; her nine cherished grandchildren: Meaghan (Carl), Nicholas, Janelle (Rick), Jillian, Melanie, Amanda (Joe), Brittany, Courtney and Sarah; and her 4 precious great-grandchildren: Madison, Reid, Theodore and Sloane. She also leaves behind her special sister, Ilene Cox (late Garfield), brother-in-law Gerald Lund (late Maureen), sisters-in-law Madge (late Basil), Sheila (late Cameron), several nieces and nephews as well as extended family all of whom were so special to her.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister: Audrey Long (late Murray), and a niece: Katherine Ells; her brothers-in-laws: Urban, Walter (late Lenore), Harold, Peter and Elroy; her sisters-in-laws: Beverly and Marie.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the exceptionally kind and compassionate care provided by the staff at Spencer’s, who will remember her forthright but grateful personality, despite her illness.
As per Lavetta’s request, there will be no visitations. The funeral mass will be held at St-Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church (43 Botsford Street, Moncton, NB), on Tuesday, February 21st at 11:00a.m. with Father Charles Broderick officiating. Reception to follow in the church basement, all are welcome.
Interment will be determined at a later date.
In kindness, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
