Leo Carter, 89, of the Veteran’s Health Center, Moncton and formerly of Lakeview Manor in Riverview, of Moncton and also Dorchester, NB, passed away on Sunday, July 17th, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Kouchibouguac, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and the late Mae (née: Raymond) Carter.
Mr. Carter had retired from the Department of the Solicitor General (Dorchester Penitentiary). He was a WW II Veteran, having served in Canada, England and Continental Europe. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Champlain Place Walking Club and St.-Michael’s parish.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey (née: McLellan); his children: Betty (Eugene) Melanson of Dieppe, William J. (Bernadette) of Riverview, Ruth (Gary) D’Entremont of Kentville, NS, Todd (Sharon) of Kamloops, BC and Nancy Searles (Emmanuel) of Moncton; two sisters: Alberta May and Jean (Alan) Cargill, both of Ontario; 10 grandchildren: Derek, Joanne, Patricia, Grant, Shane, Cheryl, Scott, Jennifer, Michael and Jason; 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 pm.
Legion service at 4:45pm.
Funeral service will be celebrated from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at 10: 30 am.
Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
Donations to the Salvation Army, the Lung Association or the Veteran’s Health Center would be appreciated by the family.

Né à Kouchibouguac, N.-B., il était le fils de feu Joseph et de feu Mae (née: Raymond) Carter.
M. Carter avait travaillé au département du Solliciteur Général (Pénitencier Dorchester) avant de prendre sa retraite. Il était un ancient combattant de la deuxième guerre mondiale ayant servi au Canada, en Angleterre ainsi que dans l’Europe continentale. Il était membre de la Légion Canadienne, du Club de Marche de la Place Champlain et de la paroisse St-Michael’s.
Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Audrey (née: McLellan); ses enfants: Betty (Eugene) Melanson de Dieppe, William J. (Bernadette) de Riverview, Ruth (Gary) D’Entremont de Kentville, N.-E., Todd (Sharon) de Kamloops, C.-B. et Nancy Searles (Emmanuel) de Moncton; deux soeurs: Alberta May et Jean (Alan) Cargill, toutes deux de l’Ontario; 10 petits-enfants: Derek, Joanne, Patricia, Grant, Shane, Cheryl, Scott, Jennifer, Michael et Jason; 7 arrière petits-enfants ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Outre ses parents, plusieurs frères et soeurs l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le mardi de 14h à 17h.
Un service de legion a 16h45.
Les funérailles auront lieu en la chapelle de la Maison funéraire Chartersville, Dieppe, N.-B., le mercredi 20 juillet 2011, à 10h 30.
L’inhumation au cimetière Notre-Dame du Calvaire, Dieppe, N.-B.
Un don à l’Armée du Salut, l’Association Pulmonaire ou au Centre des anciens combattants serait apprecié par la famille.
