En Souvenir De
Leopold Nowlan, Capt.
août 2, 2012

St-Edouard-de-Kent, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Captain Leopold J. Nowlan, 42, on Thursday, August 2, 2012, after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Ste-Anne-de-Kent, NB on October 31, 1969, he was the son of Paul Nowlan and the late Laurina (Mercure) Nowlan.

Leo passed away quietly at home with his loving family and friends. Leo was loved by everyone. A fisherman by trade, a certified Captain with ‘l’école des Pêches de Caraquet’, Leo started fishing with his dad at the age of four and it had been his passion ever since. He taught First Nation community and commercial fishing, and then became self-employed. His knowledge of fishing brought him to travel all over the Maritimes where he fished lobster, tuna, mackerel, shark and rock crab. Leo was a true advocate of the NB Aboriginal Peoples Council and played a major role as Captain with their communal and commercial fisheries. He dedicated his time away from his family to be the best of the best within the fisheries.

Leo will be sadly missed by his wife, Anne (Noël); his daughter at home, Celina; his father, Paul of Ste-Anne-de-Kent; his sister, Paulette (Adrien Maillet) of St-Thomas; his two brothers, Jacques and Daniel, both of Ste-Anne-de-Kent; his two sisters-in-law, Louise Noël (Camille Duguay) of Cap-Pelé and Linda (Jean-Guy Doucet) of Cocagne; his mother and father-in-law, Joyce and Ronald Noël of Cocagne; his nieces and nephews, Rémi, Sean, Gina, Colleen, Chantal, Monica and Amanda; also by three special little friends, Myka, Mason, Josée and  many friends.

Besides his mother, Laurina, he was predeceased by an infant brother, Denis.

Visitations will be at the Ste-Anne-de-Kent RC church slumber room on Sunday, August 5 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, August 6 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 pm until time of funeral. Funeral service will be held at the Ste-Anne-de-Kent RC church on Monday, August 6 at 7 pm.

Donations to the family would be appreciated.
