Grande-Digue, NB – Maria Bastarache, 69, passed away suddenly at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, July 27, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Shediac Bridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Valerie and Maria (Poirier) Cormier.
Maria will be sadly missed by her husband, Edmond Bastarache of Grande-Digue; her two brothers, Oswald (Annette) of Peabody, Mass and Valerie of Moncton; her sister, Bernadette Scuzzeralla (late Victor) of Lynn, Mass; her half-brother, Francis (Denis Rathé) of Shediac; her three half-sisters, Thérèse Comeau (Marcel) of Shediac Bridge, Laura Steeves (Robert) and Marilyne Cormier (David) both of Shediac; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her adoptive mother, Irène Arsenault; one brother, Albert; one adoptive brother, Laurie; and one adoptive sister, Corinne (late Elzéar).
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm. There will be no visitations on Thursday morning. Funeral mass will be held at the La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (Atlantic Division), “Société historique de Grande-Digue” or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
