Maria Chiasson, 99, formerly of Robinson St, Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, after a brief illness.
Born in Cocagne, NB, she was the daughter of the late Albénie and Victorine (Després) Bourque.
Maria will be sadly missed by her children, Paul (Marie), Francine Chiasson-Gautreau (Gérald), Gloria Hudson (Allan), Denise Chiasson-Landry (late Norbert), Cécile Chiasson (Paul Gallant) and Marcia Goguen (Eugène); her sister, Rita Malenfant; her two brothers-in-law, Victor Chiasson and Gilles Chiasson (Diane); her eleven grandchildren, Yves, Daniel, David, Mike, France, Martin, Chris, Mark, Mélanie, Christine and Mariline; her fourteen great grandchildren; also by several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, J. Ernest (1997), her daughter, Marcia at the age of 10 (1956); one sister, Géraldine; five brothers, François, Euclide, Paul, Edmond, Joseph.
Visitations will be at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne slumber room in Cocagne, on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 12 to 2 pm. Funeral service will be held at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Monday, May 15, 2017, 2017 at 2 pm. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology) or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
