Born in Bathurst, NB, he was the son of the late Vincent and Lauza (Chiasson) Lavigne.

He gave 30 years of service as a Lab Technician to Lake Utopia Paper Ltd. in Saint-George, NB. He was a volunteer with the Golden Age club, as well as Treasurer for the Condo Association where he lived.

Nelson will be missed by his wife, Etiennette Lavigne (née Beaulieu); by his son, Michael Lavigne of Pennfield, NB; by his two daughters, Carole Wilson (late Andrew) of Quispamsis, NB and Christine Brewer (Darren) of Burtts Corner, NB; by his stepbrother, Aldorea LeBreton (Vivian) of Bathurst, NB; by his sister, Freda Gallant (late Wilfred) of Bathurst, NB; and by his five grandchildren, Lee, Drew, Jessica, Danielle and Nicholas.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Theresa.

Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 1:00 pm until time of funeral service. Funeral service will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel in Shediac Bridge on May 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
