Grande-Digue, NB – Norbert Bourgeois, 72, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, August 19, 2019. Born in Grande-Digue, NB, he was the son of the late Emery and Anna (Robichaud).
Norbert was press operator for l’Évangeline from 1967 until the company closed in 1982. He was a security guard at the Université de Moncton and Manager of Notre Centre in Grande-Digue for a few years. He ended his career as press operator for Imprimerie A Dupuis Printing in Shediac. Being competent in woodworking, he transmitted his knowledge to many young members of the Grande-Digue 4-H Club, for which he was duly recognized. He was always very generous with his time and supported many organizations and associations within the community.
He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Marguerite Gagnon (late Olando) of Grand-Barachois, Jeanne Allain (Joseph Hébert) of Bouctouche, Henri (Rollande Séguin) of Orléans, ON, Eugène Bourgeois (Carmel) and Carmella Bourgeois (Roger) both of Grande-Digue, a brother-in-law, Valmond Ouellet (Jeannita) of Gardner, Mass., his aunt Marie Bourgeois of Grande-Digue, godchildren (Nadine Bourgeois Goguen, Nathalie Bourgeois, Allan White) and also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother who raised him, Elizabeth Hébert, (1990), his brother Jean-Paul (1948), his sisters, infant Marie (1939) and Julia (1968) and his sister-in-law, Gisèle Richard
(2004).
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10 am. There will be no visitations on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
