Scoudouc, NB – Ola Melanson, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Born on December 11, 1930, in Scoudouc, NB, he was the son of the late Eloi and the late Julie Melanson (née Arsenault).
Ola was a retired construction contractor and an avid gardener. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and relaxing at the cottage. The residents of Villa Providence Shediac also benefited from his numerous hours of volunteer work.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Hélèna; his two daughters, Rachel (Fernand) and Denise (Mike), both of Scoudouc; and his two grandchildren, Stéphanie and Kevin.
He is survived by two brothers, Angelo (Yolande) of Shediac Bridge and Alphonse (Germaine) of Dieppe; four sisters, Lucille (late Raymond) of Dieppe, Juliette (late Roger) of Hartford, Ct., Annette (late Ernest) of Moncton and Gracia of Ottawa; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Honoré, Léonard, Yvon and Léonce; and sisters, Éloïse, Imelda and two infant sisters.
A special thank you to Coronary Care staff and doctors, the Departments 4C and Step Down at the
Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for their compassion and excellent care during his illness.
Honouring his request, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at St-Jacques-le-Majeur RC Church in Scoudouc on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11:00 am.
