Paryse Cyr (née Boucher) passed away at the age of 89 years and three months at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. She was the wife of the late Roger A. Cyr. She resided in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Born in Drummond, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Georges and Alma (née Thériault) Boucher.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind a son, Jean-Roch (Françoise Caron), and three daughters: Myriam (Scott Morton), Hélène (Mike MacNeill) and Natalie (Karim Kamel); seven grandchildren (Olivier, Maxime, Nicola, Benoît, Patrick, Younès and Lamia); two great-grandchildren (Benjamin and Charlotte), as well as her sister Reine Boucher, her brother-in-law Gilbert Picard and her sisters-in-law Alvine, Laurette and Winnie, and several nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her sisters Gertrude, Anne, Murielle, Marthe and Germaine, as well as her brothers Fernand, François, Guy and Réjean.
Paryse was a loving and devoted wife and mother who placed a great deal of importance on higher education – her children can attest to that! Before her marriage in 1955, she taught sewing and leatherworking at the St. Joseph Sanatorium in Saint-Basile. In 1976, she enrolled in the bachelor of social work program at the Université de Moncton. She then obtained a master’s degree from Dalhousie University. She worked at the Carrefour pour femmes/Crossroads for Women shelter before becoming director of social work internships at the Université de Moncton, where she ended her career.
The family would like to thank the nursing and support staff at the Moncton Residence and the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for their generosity and dedication.
Due to current health measures, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
A donation in memory of Paryse can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation or to an organization in the province that helps women who are victims of violence.

Au Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, le mercredi 23 décembre 2020, à l’âge de 89 ans et trois mois, est décédée Paryse Cyr, née Boucher, épouse de feu Roger A. Cyr. Elle demeurait à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick.
Née à Drummond, N.-B., elle était la fille de feu Georges et Alma (née Thériault) Boucher.
Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil un fils, Jean-Roch (Françoise Caron), et trois filles : Myriam (Scott Morton), Hélène (Mike MacNeill) et Natalie (Karim Kamel), sept petits-enfants (Olivier, Maxime, Nicola, Benoît, Patrick, Younès et Lamia), deux arrière-petits-enfants (Benjamin et Charlotte), ainsi que sa sœur Reine Boucher, son beau-frère Gilbert Picard, ses belles-sœurs Alvine, Laurette et Winnie, et plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Ses sœurs Gertrude, Anne, Murielle, Marthe et Germaine, ainsi que ses frères Fernand, François, Guy et Réjean, l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
Paryse était une épouse et une mère aimante et dévouée qui accordait une grande importance aux études supérieures : ses enfants peuvent en témoigner! Avant son mariage en 1955, elle a enseigné la couture et le façonnage du cuir au Sanatorium Saint-Joseph à Saint-Basile. En 1976, elle s’est inscrite au baccalauréat en service social à l’Université de Moncton. Elle a ensuite obtenu une maîtrise à l’Université Dalhousie. Elle a notamment travaillé à la maison d’hébergement Carrefour pour femmes/Crossroads for Women avant de devenir directrice des stages en service social à l’Université de Moncton où elle a terminé sa carrière.
La famille tient à remercier le personnel infirmier et de soutien de la Résidence Moncton et du Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont pour sa générosité et son dévouement.
En raison des mesures sanitaires en vigueur actuellement, une célébration de vie aura lieu à une date ultérieure.
Un don à la mémoire de Paryse peut être fait à la Fondation CHU-Dumont ou à un organisme de la province venant en aide aux femmes victimes de violence.
La direction des funérailles a été confiée aux soins professionnels de la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901).
