Born in Fitchburg, Mass., U.S.A, he was the son of Suzanne and the late Jean-Marie Melanson.

Besides his mother, he leaves to mourn him, his wife, Tanya; his five daughters, Rebecca (Sergeï) of Ottawa, Véronique (Jake) of Cap-Pele, Dylana and Tanesha of Moncton, and Gracie, by his step-son, Travis, as well as his sister, Joanne (Tony) of Riverview. He also leaves nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

René was a long time wood harvesting entrepreneur. He will be long remembered as a fun loving person. René loved fishing, travelling and enjoyed a good gentlemen hockey game.

Visitations will be at Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Wednesday, November 21, 2019 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, on Thursday, November 22, 2018 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held from the Passage Funeral Home Chapel, Shediac Bridge on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Donation to the CHU Dumont Foundation or to "Pépère Boîte à Lunch" (Lunchbox Grandpa would be appreciated by the family.
