Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Albert and Anita LeBlanc (nee Cormier).
Father Georges was ordained May 25, 1975 by Archbishop Donat Chiasson in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. During his ministry (1975-2004), Father Georges was vicar in three parishes the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, Shediac and Bouctouche. He then worked in Matrimonial Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Moncton where he then pursued his studies in civil law from the University of Moncton class of 1982. Fr Georges was appointed parish priest in Collette, Rosaireville, Pointe-du-Chêne (twice),Scoudouc, Notre Dame, Irishtown and Boutouche. He was also chaplain at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont and assistant priest in the parish pastoral unit including Holy Family, St Bernard’s in Moncton, Pointe-du-Chêne, Sunday English masses at Dieppe, Lakeburn.
Besides his mother, Anita, he is survived by his three sisters and three brothers, Paul (Lucille) LeBlanc, Robert (Annette) LeBlanc, Bernice LeBlanc, Gisèle (Roland) Belliveau, Monique (Jean) Cormier, Maurice (Joanne) LeBlanc; he is also survive by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 11 Saint Andrews Street, Pointe-du-Chêne on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 1:00 pm till the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 4:00 pm.
Donations to Our Lady of Mercy Parish, The Friends of the Moncton Hospital (Oncology department) or to the "Fond du sauvegarde de la Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-L’Assomption" would be appreciated.
