After a courageous cancer battle tackled with his usual determination and optimism, Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Dr. George-L.- Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife and soulmate, Anne-Marie Collette, his three loving children, Robyn, Robert Jr. and Kathryn; the mother of his 3 children, Marion Stewart; his sister Lori Maracle (Rob Maracle), numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Fort Frances, ON, and raised in Hamilton, ON, he was the son of the late Alexander and Agnes Stewart (nee McWatt). Robert spent many years working in N.W.T through his accounting firm, then moving to Okotoks, Alberta and finally settling in Shediac, New Brunswick.
Bob held many senior management positions in business and government over the past 36 years, but his passion was peace education; a passion that was ignited at a Rotary International convention where he heard "peace is the most worthwhile cause and you should do something". He founded Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace as an internet resource hub. A peacebuilder at heart, he travelled the globe to co-create with community leaders a better world. All net proceeds from his latest book Rotarian Peace Leaders Collaborative will be supporting school peace projects. www.stewartatpeace.com/shop
Bob’s first book recounting his experience on the 800 kms pilgrimage along the famed El Camino de Santiago is called “Becoming Love”. All proceeds from this book will also go towards Peace Education.
As per Robert’s wishes, there was an intimate family gathering to celebrate his life instead of visitation and funeral.
The family invites you to sign an online book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
