Advocate Harbor, NS – Rodrigue Babineau, 65, passed away at Bayview Memorial Health Centre in Advocate Harbour, NS, on Friday, September 28, 2018.
Born in Acadieville, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest Babineau and the late Régina (nee Goguen) of Acadieville, NB.
Rodrigue leaves behind three brothers, Léo-Paul of Scoudouc, Réginald (Elizabeth) of Shediac Bridge, Louis (Joanne) of Dieppe; two sisters, Anna Thériault (Maurice) of Moncton and Lina of Bouctouche; his special friend, Cathy McEachern of Amherst; his godmother, Yvonne Babineau; his godson, Ivan Brownell; also several aunts and other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Yolande Tower.
After graduating from the hearing impaired school in Amherst, he continued to make a living in Amherst. Rodrigue volunteered for the Amherst hockey team, “the Ramblers” and also with “the Lions” for the minor baseball teams. The city of Amherst honored him with a certificate of recognition for his volunteer work. He knew everyone and was known by everyone.
Visitation will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Funeral will be celebrated at St-Jacques-le-Majeur RC Church in Scoudouc, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association (NB), St-Jacques-le-Majeur Parish or to a charity of your choice.
