Moncton, NB – Ross Andrews Miller, 96, passed away peacefully at Kenneth E. Spencer Nursing Home in Moncton, on Friday, January 9, 2015.
Born in Oxford, NS, he was the son of the late Fred and Hattie (Andrews) Miller.
Ross was employed for many years at Marven’s Limited. He was a veteran of World War II where he served with the 1st Canadian Division, 2nd field Regiment, 8th Field Battery serving in England, Sicily, France, Belgium and Italy. He also participated in the liberation of Holland. Ross enjoyed bowling, he was a former member of number 31 Dart Club and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6.
Ross will be sadly missed by his son, Brian (late Caroline) of Moncton; his two grandchildren, Shawn (Katya) of Dieppe and Vickie Saunders (Ronald) of Moncton; his four great grandchildren, Brady, Grace, Chloe and Riley; his sister, Matilda Smith of Moncton; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Orton); two brothers, Kenneth (Barney) and Boyd; one sister, Shirley.
Respecting Ross wishes there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service of prayers will be held at 10:50 am by the members of the Canadian Royal Legion Branch #6 followed by the funeral service at the St. Philip’s Anglican Church on Lynch Street in Moncton, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11 am with Rev. Roderick Black officiating. The family will meet relatives and friends at a reception in the church hall after the service. Interment will be at Elmwood cemetery at a later date this spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
