Sr. Maria Daigle, cnd, (saint Jean-Léonardi), 84, of Notre-Dame, passed away on Wednesday, July 18th, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital.
Born in St.-Louis-de-Kent, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jean and the late Elizabeth (née: Guimond) Daigle.
Sr. Maria retired from teaching, she was a member of “Les Soeurs de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame” for over 61 years, having exercised her religious life serving the communities of St.-Louis-de-Kent, Caraquet, Baker Brook, Kedgwick, Iles-de-la-Madeleine and Notre-Dame-de-Kent.
She is survived by Sr. Stella Roach and Sr. Edith Robichaud with whom she resided for the last 27 years in Notre-Dame; her extended religious family; five sisters: Alma Blanchard of Moncton, Albertine Gallant of Souris, PE, Antoinette Cormier of Ottawa, ON, Yvette Doiron of Charlottetown, PE and Cecile (Georges) Poirier of Grande-Digue; one sister-in-law, Gilberte Daigle of Saint John as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four sisters: Laura, Lina, baby Rita and baby Regina and also by four brothers: Rev. Fr. Alyre, Arthur, Eloi and Aurèle.
Visitation will be held from the Notre-Dame Parish Funeral Salon, on Thursday, July 19th, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7pm to 9pm, on Friday from 2 to 4 and from 6pm until time of funeral.
Funeral mass will be celebrated from Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur Roman Catholic Church, Notre-Dame de Kent, on Friday, July 20th, 2007, at 7 pm.
Interment in St.-Louis-des-Français parish cemetery, St.-Louis-de-Kent, NB.
