  Susan Gaudet

Born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada; born, July 13h, 1928; passed on July 25th, 2020.

It is with heavy hearts that Susan’s family and extended family announce her passing at the Foyer Saint-Antoine in New Brunswick, while surrounded by loving members of both her extended families.

She was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Marie Blanche (born Perry).
She was also predeceased by her seven brothers and six sisters as well as her loving and special friend, Ernest Robichaud.

Susan came to Moncton as a young adult to find work. She first worked at the Eaton’s catalogue office on Foundry street and then went to work for Mr. and Mrs. Cormier who owned the Lewisville Rest Home. It was there she discovered her passion for caring and helping people. She remained with Mrs. Cormier and her family for more than 25 years. In 1985 she returned to PEI for a brief period and then came back to New Brunswick in 1986 to live with a dear friend, Élisabeth Cormier, whose husband had passed away. Susan quickly became part of this family.

Susan was such a pleasant and funny person who touched the lives of so many people. She will be remembered for having such a great love for cats and dogs, for being a great baker and for having a great sense of style. Everyone who met Susan was inevitably touched by her unique sense of humour, candour, child-like innocence, love and joy of life. Her smile and laugh were contagious.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her two extended families. Surviving members of the first family include Guy (Junior) Cormier (Eva Chevarie), Paulette Arsenault (Donald Racine), Rob Arsenault, Rick Arsenault (Cindy Breau), Danny Arsenault (Karina Moriel) and their two sons, José and Diego. Although Susan never had children of her own, she was a beloved “mémère” to José and Diego, whom she taught how to eat French fries, chew gum and scratch lotto tickets. Serving members of the second family include Paul Cormier (Bernice Robichaud), their children Luc Cormier (Nathalie), grandson, Olivier and daughter, Lise Goguen (Paul) and grandchildren, Gabriel et Samuel; Gloria Cormier (André) and their children, Richard (Nancy), Paulette (Dominic Melanson), Michel (Melissa) as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her niece and nephews, Reg Porter of Belle River, P.E.I; Larry Gaudet (Alison Smith) of Toronto; Donna (James) Gaudet of Anglo-Tignish. She will be sadly missed by several cousins, especially Louise Doucette (Larry), Agnes Gaudet (Camille), Cathy Miller (Ray) and Jan Geldart (Dave).

Susan, her family and extended families wish to thank each and every staff member at the Foyer Saint-Antoine for the care, compassion, support and loyalty they gave.

A private funeral mass will be held at the Saint-Antoine l’Ermite RC Church, in Saint-Antoine. The burial will be in the St. Simon and St. Jude Oman Catholic Cemetery in Tignish, Prince Edward Island.
