Wilfred E. Dunsmore, 83 of 170 Mapleton Rd, Moncton passed away peacefully with his loving wife Shirley by his side at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on September 13th. He was the most wonderful man and a great person, loved and respected by everyone.
Born in Turtle Creek, he was the son of Mabel (Wilson) and David Dunsmore.
He retired from CN Rail after 38 years of service. A recipient of the Volunteer Fire Exemplary Service Medal he was a very proud City of Moncton Volunteer Fireman for 24 years as well as a committed volunteer with Drivers for Veterans. One of the best pool players in Moncton he also loved cross-country skiing, walking, travelling, and his puzzles. He was a long-serving member of the Legion and a Life Member of the Air Force Veterans Club. He was a long-time member of Wesley United Church.
A loving husband, father and grandfather; he leaves to mourn his wife, Shirley Dunsmore (Gould); his daughters, Susan French (Ken), Marilyn Smith (Ray) and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Floyd Allison Wilson; his sister Evelyn Williston and many loving nieces and nephews, especially Gary and John who have been wonderful to the family. Thanks also to special friends, Claude (Ben) and Karen Poirier for their ongoing support and friendship.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lois Dunsmore (Mitchell) and his daughter, April Maybee (Brian).
The family extends their appreciation to the wonderful staff in the emergency room and Unit 4A at the Georges Dumont Hospital and especially Dr. Verger.
Arrangements are in the care of Passages on Mountain Rd. There will be no visitation or funeral however a City of Moncton Volunteer Firefighter Honour Guard and graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe, site G112-36 on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
