Yvon Michaud, 56, of Dieppe, NB, passed away on Thursday, July 13th, 2006 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB.
Born in Edmundston, NB, he was the son of the late Armand and the late Ida (née: Couturier) Michaud.
Mr. Michaud was a loving family man, whose “Joie de Vivre” drove his professional pursuits and his devotion to others through his many hours volunteering.
He retired from Radio Canada after 22 years and chose to return to broadcasting with CJSE Radio Beauséjour in the capacity of news and programming director, his phone-in show “CJSE à l’écoute – Tribune Téléphonique” was especially important to him as he was able to raise awareness and help people in need.
Mr. Michaud also recognized the raw talent of many communications students and took great pride in helping to mold their careers.
Many hours were given to numerous organizations through his volunteer efforts, Maison Nazareth, MIRA, Canadian Liver Foundation and Scouting were especially close to his heart.
Mr. Michaud enjoyed golf, fishing, had a love for animals, in particular his dog “Sasha”, reading and music, especially jazz. He was also a talented, although unpublished writer.
He will be sadly missed by his community as well as his family, his wife, Pierrette (née: Rioux); one daughter, Caroline, one son, Pierre (Janka), both of Montreal, QC, and formerly of Dieppe, five sisters: Anne Michaud (Gilles Caron) of Rivière-du-Loup, QC, Louiselle Couturier(Charles Moreau), Rachel Michaud (Jean-Guy Bérubé ), Danielle Bois, all three of Edmundston, NB and Colette (Jacques) Michaud-Scott of St. Jacques, NB; his step-father, Gérard Bois of St. Basile, NB as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Saturday July 15th from 7 to 9 pm, Sunday July 16th 2005 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Anselme Roman Catholic Church on Monday, July 17th, 2006 at 11 am.
Donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, MIRA or Maison Nazareth would be appreciated by the family.
